|Just like Coco said. Classy and Fabulous.|
You can find just about any how-to guide on the Internet about what to wear to any event you have… except internships. For some reason, there aren’t a lot of guides out there that will help you dress to impress on one of the most exciting time of your life that could potentially lead into a great career. But don’t worry, we’re here to help!
Oh, the internship. It’s hard to know what to expect on the first day. You don’t want to over-dress (so keep your prom dress in the closet), but you definitely don’t want to under dress (leave the ripped jean shorts at home), so what do you wear? If you want to avoid going in the ‘ole birthday suit, we have some great options for you to try out.
You can’t go wrong with a black pencil skirt. It’s a classic piece for not only a job, but also an internship. You look sharp, professional, and it still lets you show off your feminine curves.
Instead of matching your skirt with a boring white shirt, try to add a pop of color into your ensemble instead. This is a great way to look professional but still let your personality shine through. Tuck the shirt into your skirt and it will look fabulous, we promise.
To top off the outfit, don’t forget a great shoe! Since you’re on an internship, you want something that will be easy to walk around in and won’t leave your feet screaming at you by the end of the day. We recommend a black one inch heel.
For a more casual-dressy look on those hot summer days, go with satin shorts with a bow accent or belt. A key thing to remember is to make sure the shorts aren’t too short. Or short at all for that matter. If your butt cheeks show when you walk, they probably aren’t a good choice for the internship.
Tuck a white shirt (something flowy and not skin-tight is best) into the shorts.
Top off the outfit with a brown shoe, especially if you decide to go with the navy blue satin shorts shown in the picture. It’s an adorable look that anyone will love.
The final look is by far my favorite. Start off with a white boyfriend button-up. Make sure the shirt isn’t sheer when you purchase it, and if it is, just wear a tank underneath.
Tuck the white shirt into an adorable yellow skirt that goes right above the knee. Once again, too short = a major no-no for internships.
To top off the outfit, add a gray shoe and a pearl-esque necklace. Classy, feminine, and ready to do work!
Well there you have it. Three outfits to get you started on dressing perfectly for your summer internship. You’ll look fabulous, feel fabulous, and who knows- maybe even score a job!
