This summer, skip the daily Starbucks adventure and be your own barista with these deliciously refreshing mocktails. Grab a pitcher, some cute-but-cheap glassware, colorful crazy straws, and let’s get started!
I used to think that this was just a seasonal drink offered at select restaurants – that is, until I found this DIY recipe. The strawberry compensates for the bitterness of lemon in this drink creating a sweeter taste.
1 1/2 c. strawberries (halved and trimmed)
1 1/2 c. lemon juice
1 c. sugar
3 c. cold water
Blend strawberries with 2 tablespoons lemon juice until smooth, then place into a large pitcher. Add remaining lemon juice, sugar, and water. Stir until sugar dissolves. Serve over ice.
Iced Chai Tea
As a refreshing deviation from your average iced tea, this recipe calls for milk in addition to tea for a richer, creamier taste.
4 c. water
8 Tazo Organic Spiced Black Tea bags
1 c. whole milk
Sugar to taste
Boil water in a saucepan, then remove from heat. Add tea bags and let steep for 5-10 minutes. Remove tea bags, add milk and sugar (optional), and stir. Serve over ice.
3 c. grape juice, unsweetened
4/7 c. apple juice concentrate
1 T fresh lime juice
1 T fresh lemon juice
1 small lemon, sliced
1 small orange, sliced
1 small apple, cored and chopped
1 3/4 c. club soda
Combine grape juice, apple juice, and all fruit into a large pitcher. Stir and refrigerate. Add club soda before serving.
Simple but most definitely a classic. Not to mention super easy to make!
3/8 c. Sprite (3 oz.)
3/8 c. Ginger ale (3 oz.)
1 t. Grenadine
Combine all ingredients into a pitcher and stir. Garnish with maraschino cherries and a lime wedge. Serve over ice.
There you have it, folks! These easy-but-delicious drinks are perfect for a lazy day at the pool. Or, serve up a pitcher to family and friends to add some pizazz to a summer night.
