Cupcake In a Jar
What You Need:
– A batch of your favorite cupcakes
– Jars (as needed)
Make cupcakes easily transportable with this awesome trick! Start off by baking up a batch of your favorite kind of cupcakes. Make the desired amount of frosting as well, but don’t frost the cupcakes yet! Next, slice the cupcakes in half horizontally through the middle (the top will be one half, and the bottom will be the other half). Place one cupcake bottom in each jar, then add a layer of frosting. Add the top half of the cupcake over the frosting. Gently smash the top half of the cupcake with your fingers to slightly flatten it. Add a final layer of frosting to the top.
Both of the next two fabulous gift ideas–bath salts and body scrub recipes, call for a few drops of essential oils. If you are unsure how much oil to add, start with a few drops and then you can add more, but a few drops should go a long way (trust your nose!). Also, you can choose different essential oils for whatever type of gift you want to give. Jasmine and Lavender oils help to relax, Spearmint and Rosemary oils help to energize, Sweet Orange and Grapefruit oils help to invigorate, and Eucalyptus and Lavender oils help to soothe muscles. There are many different kinds of essential oils, and many can be used in conjunction to meet whatever your need might be. To get more info on different essential oils and their uses check out this Essential Oils Reference Guide.
– 1 cup epsom salt (can be purchased at drugstores)
– 3 teaspoons of baking soda
– A few drops of essential oil(s)
– Food coloring (optional)
Combine the salt and baking soda into a mixing bowl, then add the essential oils
and stir. At this point, you can add some food coloring if you desire. Lay the mixture out in a single layer, such as on a cookie sheet, and allow it to dry for several hours. This is to ensure that the salt doesn’t clump together while it’s still wet. Transfer the mixture into a jar, and you’re all done.
– 1/2 cup brown OR white sugar
– Few drops of essential oil(s)
Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl. You can use either brown or white sugar; brown sugar tends to be gentler on the skin. Stir until the sugar absorbs most of the oil, and then transfer into a jar.
