Sun-Friendly Beauty Products

Makeup to withstand even this.

Sometimes it can be hard to keep up your normal beauty routine in the summertime between applying sunscreen and battling humidity. Luckily, there are a ton of beauty products out there that defy all my former beliefs about summer and it’s hatred for makeup.

Physician’s Formula Healthy Wear Tinted Moisturizer ($14.95) is the perfect way to start off your summer beauty routine. The tinted formula adds just enough coverage, while still keeping your face moisturized for a long day in the sun. Plus, it has SPF 50 so it acts as a sun protectant (anti-wrinkle formula) as well!

Don’t skimp on your lips! They are often over-looked when it comes to sun protection, and can easily end up sun burnt and dry (and no one wants to be rocking cracked lips at the next bbq or pool party). Blistex Silk & Shine ($2.99) acts as both a sunscreen and a chapstick. It has SPF 15, and is made with real silk extracts, leaving you with nothing but soft, shiny lips. Hello, cute lifeguard!

The worst part of the sticky summer weather is the fact that it melts your makeup, and let’s face it – creased eye shadow is not cute. A great year-round product that is especially useful in the summer is eye shadow primer. I would definitely recommend investing in Urban Decay’s Primer Potion ($19), it is one of the best selling primers out there, and for good reason–I dare you to try and crease your eyeshadow with it on! Plus, it now comes in an easy-to-squeeze tube that allows for a more precise application. If you’re looking for a less expensive but still effective primer, try NYX’s eyeshadow base ($7), it definitely gets the job done, and comes in three fabulous shades. Your makeup will look fabulous and stay in place even in the humid summer sun!
