Household Beauty Secrets

Honey, can you pass the honey?

We all know that every twenty-something has her little beauty secrets. Here are a few more to add to your arsenal – and they’re a lot closer than you think. Did you know that are a ton of everyday items found around the house that are actually big-time beauty miracles?

Let’s start with the kitchen. Three of the most common items in the fridge or pantry are eggs, honey, and olive oil. When put together, the combination can repair and soften even the most damaged, unruly head of hair.

What You Need:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Start by mixing the eggs and olive oil, and gradually add in the honey as you mix. Smooth the entire mixture through your hair, and leave for one hour. (If you want to avoid a drippy mess, cover your head in plastic wrap or a shower cap). Rinse it out, and you will be left with sleek, shiny hair!

Another product found in almost all households? Petroleum jelly. This little jar has a ton of practical uses for the fashionista on the go. We all have that one fabulous pair of shoes that makes our feet hurt just to look at. To avoid painful blisters, coat your heels or other problem areas with a small amount of petroleum jelly before slipping your shoes on. You can also use this little miracle product to avoid messy application when coloring your hair or painting your nails – just spread some at your hair line or around your nails for easy cleanup if you get some color where it shouldn’t be.

Last but certainly not least is toothpaste. Just as it whitens teeth, toothpaste can do the same for your nails if they are stained or yellow – scrub it onto your nails weekly to see results. Toothpaste is also an awesome spot treatment for pimples. Apply a small amount directly on top of breakouts to sooth and reduce redness. You’ll wake up looking fabulous!
