Cult Beauty Products

I’ll take that, that, and that…
Every once in a while a product comes along that creates pandemonium in the beauty world. It sells out immediately, wait lists continue to grow, and imitators try to get a piece of the action. No matter the number of copycats, nothing can compare to the original. You’ve probably tried some of them, but if not–here is a list of cult products that are still as lust-worthy today as they were when they first came out.

1. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
This mascara has been around for 40 years and it is definitely an oldie but a goodie! The iconic green cap and pink bottle stand out among the sea of mascaras at the drugstore for good reason. The formula creates flirty lashes minus the clumps and comes in seven colors. As of late, the Great Lash collection has expanded to include variations of the original formula such as a “Lots of Lashes” and a “Big Brush” version, so there is something for every lash fanatic.

2. NARS Orgasm Blush
Finding a blush color that looks good on every conceivable skin tone is no easy feat, but NARS seems to have done it with the invention of the Orgasm Blush. The peachy-pink shade has flecks of gold which can brighten up even the most dull complexions. The overwhelming success of the original blush spawned a full orgasm collection including: lipgloss, nail polish, a blush, a bronzer duo, and Super Orgasm–a more intense, sparkly version of the original shade. It’s definitely worth the Oooh’s and Ahh’s.

3. Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Vamp
It could easily be blamed as the nail polish that caused the polish revolution that is currently in effect. This sexy shade created a frenzy when it was first released in 1994 and sold out immediately. The expensive price tag didn’t deter the fans who loved this deep red with dark brown undertones.

4. MAC Russian Red Lipstick
Nothing beats a classic red lipstick. MAC’s Russian Red, a matte bluish red, was the answer for women everywhere who were looking for the right red lipstick for them. The shade makes teeth look whiter, lips look fuller and the creamy formula is long-lasting and moisturizing. It’s easy to see why it continues to be one of MAC’s best sellers today.

5. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat
This is nothing short of a miracle in a tube for those of us who seldom get the recommended eight hours of sleep a night. The pen applicator dispenses a luminous formula that could make the darkest of dark circles disappear. It’s easy to see why it’s a favorite among make up artists, beauty editors, and make up junkies alike.

What’s your makeup must-have?
